KSBK HOME | PROJECTS HOME

New Zealand

Where are they?
Since 1994, KSBK has been actively investigating and monitoring the wild animal trade in many places in Indonesia, from Java to Bali, Sulawesi, Sumatra and Kalimantan to name some. KSBK also conducts weekly monitoring of the wild animal trade and in certain bird markets around the country. We record data about the numbers of animals, prices and the origin of these traded animals. The data collected shows a large number of protected animals including the Orang Utan, Gibbons, Slow Loris, Sea Turtle, many species of Eagle, and the rare Sumatran Tiger are being traded freely in Indonesian markets.

Who are they, and what are they doing?
KSBK is the Non Government Organization (NGO) focusing on the conservation of Indonesian wild animals and their habitats. KSBK's principle mission is see that animals are allowed to live freely in the wild, and it is the duty of human beings to insure this is possible.

How are they doing this?
KSBK continuously works to increased public awareness, especially for the youth, in the activity of Indonesian animal conservation. KSBK conducts ongoing bird watching training for the youth. Hopefully this training can make them aware that preservation in the wild is the answer to enjoying wildlife, not cages. KSBK also conducts awareness programs by visiting schools throughout the region. With this program, KSBK educates the children in preservation by means of slides and videos.

KSBK often holds seminars and workshops to encourage policies for animal and habitat preservation. KSBK also encourages the building of NGO networking concerning the monitoring of Indonesian animal trade. These campaigns to stop all kinds of animal exploitation is supported by its members. All KSBK campaigns are non-violent and non-political.

Who is this for?
"Anyone who wants to learn about and help end the exploitation of wildlife and their habitats in Indonesia."
