“Correction” for Abie T. Just for the record, Meb’s parents are from Eritrea and not Ethiopia. Two separate countries, if I may add. No offence!

No need to make an issue of where Meb’ parents are from. We are muds, Eritreans & Ethiopians, we are one pumping same color blood, red. Lets congradulate Meb for his hard word and endurance.

    Meb is a Proud Eritrean-American.

He is not an “Ethiopian.” In fact, calling Meb an “Ethiopian” is the same as calling a Jewish holocaust survivor a “Nazi.”

Eritrea is a beautiful nation of 5 million brave, determined, hard-working, and decent people in East Africa, who had earned their hard won independence in 1991 after defeating the Soviet-backed Ethiopian communist army, the largest military force in Africa, and went on to liberate their nation against overwhelming odds from the brutal Ethiopian occupation.

On a recent interview, Meb Kiflezighi attributed his work ethic that has won him medals to the strong Eritrean culture of determination, sacrifices, and winning against all odds.

Congratulations Meb !! The Great Eritrean-American Runner !

I can’t beleieve people still debating on Meb’s nationality – “he’s not American” , “he’s not Eritrean”, this, that and the other…The guy won a marathon because he is the best! period!
Congrats Mebrahtom Kifilezigi and God bless you my brother.
