WASHINGTON, June 15 (UPI) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of various brands of fresh and frozen lobster due to possible bacterial contamination.
The FDA said the Portland Shellfish Co. Inc. of Portland, Maine, initiated the recall of Portland Shellfish Co., Craig’s All Natural, Claw Island and Inland Ocean-brand fresh and frozen lobster claw and knuckle meat because the products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide.
Consumers who have purchased the products are urged not to consume them and to return them for a refund.
Consumers with questions can contact the company at 207-699-5505.
