MAZSALACA, Latvia, Oct. 26 (UPI) — Scientists in Latvia are trying to determine if a meteorite caused a crater on a farm in Mazsalaca, officials said.
The object, which fell Sunday, sparked a grass fire and created a hole about 65-feet wide and 32-feet deep, LETA news agency reported Monday.
There were no reported injuries, Latvian emergency officials said.
The investigation is being conducted by federal scientists and aided by armed forces in Latvia, CNN reported.
No other details were immediately available.
