Some Purina Horse, Poultry Feed Recalled

WASHINGTON, April 19 (UPI) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of specific lots of Strategy-brand horse feed and Layena-brand poultry feed.

The FDA said Purina Mills LLC of St. Louis initiated the recall of two lots of 50-pound bags of Strategy Professional Formula GX horse feed and one lot of Layena SunFresh Recipe Pellet poultry feed after metal fragments were discovered in a limited number of bags.

The company said the recalled products were manufactured in Nashville March 24-25 and were shipped to retailers and dealers in Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri and Virginia.

Being recalled are Strategy Professional Formula GX Lot Nos. 0MAR24NST1A1 and 0MAR24NST2A1 along with Layena SunFresh Recipe Lot No. “0MAR25NST2A1.” The lot number is located on the sewing strip of each bag.

Purina said customers who have purchased the recalled products should return unused product to their dealer for replacement.
