WASHINGTON, May 10 (UPI) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of some Mt. Vikos-brand sheep and goat’s milk cheese because of possible contamination.
Mt. Vikos Inc. of Marshfield, Mass., said it’s recalling packages of all sizes and all lot numbers of “Mt. Vikos Manouri — Sheep & Goat’s Milk Cheese” because it might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.
The recalled cheese was distributed nationwide.
Consumers can return the cheese for a refund or contact the company for more information at 781-834-0828.
