WASHINGTON, April 19 (UPI) — NASA says it has extended its contract with the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy for the Hubble Space Telescope’s science operations.
The space agency said the Hubble operations center, located at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, will continue to be responsible through April 2013 for providing products and services required to execute the telescope’s science program, including archiving and distributing science data, maintaining and calibrating Hubble’s instruments, and maintaining ground system operations.
The contract extension is valued at approximately $113 million.
