5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shocks Western China

XI’AN, China, Sept. 19 (UPI) — A 5.1-magnitude earthquake shook western China Saturday, although no serious damage or injuries were reported, local officials said.

The quake struck an area bordering Ningqiang County in northwest China’s Shaanxi province, Wudu District in Longnan City of Gansu province and Qingchuan County in southwestern Sichuan Province, the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

Seismologists said it was felt at 4:54 p.m. and was centered at a depth of 4.3 miles.
