Chicken, Beef Puffs Recall

WASHINGTON, May 12 (UPI) — Galant Food Co. of San Francisco Wednesday recalled 250 pounds of chicken and beef puff products because of a labeling error.

The puffs contain eggs, a known allergen, not declared on the label, in addition to soy and yellow No. 5, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

The puffs were distributed in 24-puff cardboard trays labeled Galina’s Piroshki Chicken Provance Puffs with establishment No. P-9014 inside the USDA mark, and Galina’s Piroshki Beef & Farm Vegetables Puffs with the same establishment number.

The puffs were produced from March through May 11 and distributed in the San Francisco area.

The problem was discovered during a routine Food Safety Assessment. There were no reports of illness as a result of consumption, FSIS said.
