WASHINGTON, June 14 (UPI) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of Bimbo-brand soft white bread because of a labeling error.
The FDA said Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. of Horsham, Pa., advised the bread might contain undeclared milk, posing a health threat for people allergic to the dairy product.
The bread is sold in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Each loaf has a red band of color above the clear bag window on the front of bread bag and square lock tab closures in specific colors and expiration dates:
– White tab – 6/14 or 6/21.
– Blue tab – 6/15.
– Tan tab – 6/17.
– Green tab – 6/18.
– Red tab – 6/20.
The company initiated the recall when it was discovered the bread was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.
Consumers with allergies to milk who have purchased the recalled bread can return the product for a refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-984-0989.
