CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., April 26 (UPI) — NASA said space shuttle Atlantis astronauts were in Houston Monday, dealing with administrative tasks after several busy days at the Kennedy Space Center.
The astronauts, set to take Atlantis on its final trip into space May 14, last week completed the Terminal Countdown Demonstration test — a multiday training exercise that involved the astronauts and launch crew in a simulation of pre-launch activities, with the exercise culminating Saturday with a simulated launch.
At Kennedy, crews Monday were readying Atlantis for its liftoff from Launch Pad 39A. During the weekend, the STS-132 mission payload — an Integrated Cargo Carrier and a Russian-built Mini Research Module — were installed in the shuttle’s cargo bay.
Technicians Monday were scheduled to install the quick disconnects for Atlantis’s two solid rocket boosters.
