5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Central California at 3:01AM

A moderate earthquake rattled portions of central California early Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The 5.1-magnitude quake struck at 3:01 a.m. about eight miles south of Keeler, Calif., 148 miles west of Las Vegas, the USGS said on its Web site.

CNN reported there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
