Offshore Oil Drilling Headlines California Budget Deficit

Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger wishes to expand current offshore oil drilling in Santa Barbara in hopes that it will yield $1.8 billion dollars to help battle California’s growing deficit.

Allegations have been made that this is a back room deal to made on coat tails of fiscal crisis in what some call a play, so that the Governor may “Have it his way”.

“This is a play by the governor to have it his way,” he said. “This is a sellout to the oil industry. They want to open the California coast to drilling, and this is the first step.”
