In the Rishi Valley of India, contour berms were dug to percolate the runoff. Water tables rose, and pioneer trees brought back diversity. People used the environment and ecology to educate their young and each other in math, language - a 12 grade level curriculum was packaged onto 500 unique learning cards. The classroom was the forest, the percolation reservoirs, the fields of food, the clean river runoff.
Interesting read. I wonder if they have any before and after photos to illustrate the recovery. Everything looks good and green right now. I'll have to just keep poking around.
