A lot of times, those who are mixing reforestation and lumber production have to use smaller tools - I know a couple of our members have a lot of knowledge on this subject.

How about you first LogRite - I know that you actually sell stuff for harvesting - I would love to hear about it.

Then I'll have to figure out how to get it down here!

Hi Fred,

The tools we make are used for moving the logs around once they are on the ground. In a nutshell, the cant hooks and peaveys come in handy for rolling logs around the work area and sawmill.

The longer handled ones are used for more leverage to get the logs to the mill, the shorter handled "Mill Specials" are used to flip the cants once they are on the sawmill deck.

The hookaroons are great for picking up slabs for the chipper or burn pile. They are also great as a third hand type of tool when unloading the wood from a truck or trailer.

I can talk to my man JJ. He might be able to bring some tools down to CR as carry on luggage.

We actually need some of these tools - do you have a distributor yet in Costa Rica?

No, not yet. It's been tough. Shipping internationally on individual tools most often cost more than the tools themselves. To make it cost effective for a distributor, he has to order a lot of tools in one shot to get a bulk rate. It's a classic chicken vs. egg scenario.

I'll have Kevin get some rates and I'll email them to you. We'll both have a good laugh I'm sure.

Yes, shipping is a problem, but there are ways - if you want I can find out for you. It shouldn't be so much.

The biggest problem is aduana (customs) however, once our 7575 status is finished, we would be able to import without taxes as long as they are things for the reforestation business.

I have Kevin checking prices right now. We had a fellow from Australia order a tool from us. Shipping cost 1 1/2 times more than the tool itself. He told us it was worth it. That makes us feel pretty good!

We will be traveling back to the USA in October - perhaps I can get some then.

I'll tell aduana that it is a golf club.... ;)
