Are you currently in the Philipines? If so - I don't know where you could get them - and even if it is legal to import them.
If you are in Costa Rica - CATIE, which is above in this thread would be a source.

Fred was correct - the woman above at CATIE had plenty of cocobolo. Fred - I bought everything I needed at CATIE - it was great! I dont know how you could get these to the Philipines except to come and get them yourself and then get them thru customs. Probably the first thing you need to do is determine from your ministry of agriculture that you are allowed to bring these into the country.
Best Wishes!

Fred - Is there a better way to communicate with you? or a more appropriate forum?
I have had much difficulty in posting for some reason, the software erases the post and requires a log-in, which takes me automatically to another forum. when I come to this thread I am logged out.
It wirks however if I reply to a message someone sends me.
Anyway, I have been in CR the past 2 weeks getting the next big push on planting ready. THis time I am going to try something different. I am putting in about 1,000 trees - a mixture of acacia, teca, pilon, amarillion/roble coral, and gmelina, plus cuban mahognay spaced every 5 trees, with almendro and manu negro around the edges to attract wildlife. I am trying to design a planting map so that all get the benefit of being near the acacia. Plus when I thin I want to replant shade loving trees in the thinned spots. I am hoping that this will somewhat replicate a natural forest. What do you think?
I am hoping that someone can point me to a list of the second-stage trees which would do well in shade? I am hoping that the cuban mahogany does well in sunlight because that is where I put it!
Regards -
Charlie

Hi Charlie - if you go to our website
http://www.fincaleola.com/contact_information.htm you will see ways to contact us in country and outside of the country.
Not sure why you might be having problems on the forum - perhaps you have old cookies in the system or something like that.

I do periodically get seeds from other countries...... such as Thailand, USA, Brazil. We do not have problems bringing in seeds. There are certain species that we can not bring in, in whatever shape or form as they are considered weeds but for Dalbergia sps. we have no problem. We have an area of 120 hectares that we are trying to reforest with native hardwood species. We also have some exotic species.
My seed sources in the USA have not been able to provide cocobolo seeds for the past 5 years thats why I am looking for more sources. for my new project. I have in my previous project planted 350 hectares of trees and they are growing very well. Sadly the company that owns the project does not allow sharing of seeds. They already have some cocobolo producing seeds. This new project is community owned and in our contract they promise to share seeds with other simmilar projects.

The contact in CATIE should be able to tell you - and I do think they will ship out of the country.
