Hi,

I am putting together a program for a large scale plantion of Jatropha in Africa. The literature is confusing as wether planting seeds is preferred over planting seedlings.

Any thoughts on that?

Hi Jatro

Planting from seeds is probably better in the long term because of root development. However seeds take longer to produce. Another idea is to plant an area under irrigation using cuttings, and use the seeds from those cuttings for the large scale dry land plantings.
