LONDON, Nov. 13 (UPI) — Friday the 13th was an unlucky day for British travelers and commuters as torrential rain and gale force winds hit Britain, authorities said.
Severe weather warnings were in place across the south and west and flood warnings were expected in many areas by Friday night, The Guardian reported.
Trains between Newport and Gloucester and cross-country trains from Cardiff to Nottingham were canceled after more than a ton of mud and rubble, loosened by the downpours, slid on to the tracks near Chepstow in southeast Wales.
Forecasters said downpours would continue into Saturday.
