Organic Farmers and Grocery retailers are now meeting price conscious consumers halfway by providing private-label, organic foods at a reasonably affordable cost. The cost of some newly private-label organic foods is competitive with conventional products.
At a Newflower Market store in Tucson, Ariz., a 16 oz. jar of a name brand organic peanut butter costs $ 4.79 while the store’s private label was $2.99, putting it in line with conventional peanut butter prices.
While this does put grocers in a position of competing with themselves, many have found that appealing to customers who do prefer organic foods have noticed an increase in their customer base as well as profits.
