BALCH SPRINGS, Texas, Oct. 15 (UPI) — A teenage boy will serve a four year sentence after pleading guilty Thursday to charges he set two pit bull terriers on fire near Balch Springs, Texas.
The Dallas Morning News said Lefferreio Sudds, whose age was not reported, faced two counts of felony animal cruelty and torture for the April 4 incident that forced both injured dogs to be euthanized.
Police said after witnesses saw two teenagers fleeting the site where the dogs were burned.
Jonnie England, the Metroplex Animal Coalition’s director of animal advocacy, said both of the pit bulls suffered severe burns.
“The two dogs were in agonizing pain,” England said. “The little female dog … her face was practically burned off.”
The Morning News said an attorney for the other suspect in the case, identified as Jucorey Davis, also faces two counts of animal cruelty.
