Mobster Used Crocodile to Scare Extortion Victims

NAPLES, Italy, Sept. 23 (UPI) — A reputed Italian Mafia boss used a crocodile to scare his extortion victims, police say.

Authorities in Naples allege Antonio Cristofaro, said to be an up-and-coming boss in a Camorra crime family, threatened businessmen with the reptile if they ever tried to stop paying him for “protection,” the Italian news agency ANSA reported Wednesday.

Police told the news agency they found the animal at Cristofaro’s house while searching for illegal weapons.
