Dog Fighting Returns to Popularity in Afghanistan

Men hold back their dog as they arrive at the sporting and betting event in Kabul, Afghanistan on Friday December. 11, 2009. The dog fights, once banned under the Taliban rule, are held every Friday, the Muslim day of rest. A dog is declared the winner when he clearly shows his dominance over the other dog. Normally, they are separated before there is serious injury to either dog. UPI/Hossein Fatemi
