DARWIN, Australia, Oct. 2 (UPI) — A 57-year-old tourist was bitten on the arm by a crocodile after he ignored posted warning signs and went swimming at a national park, Australian police say.
Witnesses to the attack at Kakadu National Park helped the man out of the water and back to his campsite before he was taken to a clinic for medical treatment, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.
There was no word on his condition or how serious his wounds were.
“Police would again like to remind people to use caution when attempting to swim in any body of water in the Northern Territory,” authorities said in a statement.
Earlier this year an 11-year-old girl was killed by a crocodile while swimming in a lagoon on the outskirts of Darwin.
