Animal Cruelty Charges Await Man Who Kept 250 Animals in Garage

WORTHVILLE, Ky., Oct. 6 (UPI) — A Kentucky man faces charges of animal cruelty after investigators found over 250 animals cooped up under inhumane conditions in his garage, police said.

Donnie Cannon of Worthville, Ky., acquired chickens, rabbit and ducks for resale in his auction business, WKYT-TV, Lexington, reported Monday.

“It was pretty horrific, feces everywhere. We found more dead animals lying around when we got there,” said Tammie Crawford, director of Carroll County Animal Support.

The animal support team said it discovered ducks crowded in cages, maggot-infected chickens, dead animals’ decomposed bodies in cages with live animals and malnourished animals.

Some of the animals had to be euthanized.

If convicted, Cannon could face a $500 fine and one year in jail.
