Welcome to the earliest attempt to mobilize, via the internet, researchers from around the world to catalog all of the principal species and ecosystems in the world. Once you've filled out our Content Contributor Application and have been approved by our editorial staff, you can become part of this noble undertaking. As of September, 2005, we have just about forty years to go, to achieve EcoWorld's mission, to double the timber mass of the planet within a 50 year period ending in May 2045 - the 50th year of ecoworld online.
EcoWorld strives to collect and post, with volunteers from all over the world, all available data of species and ecosystems in the world, with updates on their status, and reports on projects underway to preserve them or to restore them. Authors and volunteers all over the world have not only contributed information in EcoWorld's databases, but also feature articles posted on EcoWorld about promising environmentally friendly technologies and environmental heroes.
